To one degree or another, the book used the developments (books, memoirs, etc.) of specialists of the former All-Union Association Soyuzmetallostroyniproekt.
In 2004 JSC "UkrNDIproektsteelconstruction" celebrates its 60th anniversary, but the spiritual and corporate genealogy of the institute has deep, hundred-year roots. Many of our employees are second, third and even fourth generation engineers. It is enough to mention the names of Kireenko, Lebedich, Kondra. The fate of the institute is largely connected with the fate of Russian designers, who trace their 120-year history back to the developments of engineer Shukhov, with the Ukrainian school of electric welding of Yevgeny and Boris Patonov, which occupies a worthy place in world science, with the best achievements of European, American and Japanese designers.
From the first years of its activity, the institute (and it was created in 1944 as a special design bureau for the restoration of destroyed bridges and other engineering structures of Ukraine) became a carrier of advanced scientific and design ideas, an authoritative center for the design of steel structures. He did not copy, but developed new progressive designs, which can be referred to as "for the first time in world practice".
The Institute is involved in the construction of the largest, including unique, facilities in the USSR, as well as in India, China, Egypt, Bolivia, Algeria, Nigeria and many other countries.
Life accommodates everything: on the one hand, exciting engineering searches, unique projects, technical creativity, a proud awareness of the importance of the tasks being solved for the country, on the other hand, business trips, operational activities, routine, daily care for veterans, training of young specialists, sports, entertainment, recreation, etc.
It is appropriate to recall that collective creativity in technology is far from being an indisputable genre: it is no coincidence that the aphorism that a camel is a horse created by a team is very popular among designers. At the same time, specialists know that in an organized system "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts", that the scientific and technical potential of a well-organized institute is much greater than the sum of the potentials of its departments and services.
