A journey through time: exploring the Bryukhovychis of the early 20th century through archival photos
Bryukhovychy is an urban-type village that is now part of the Lviv region. However, after the First World War, as a small town, it became part of Poland. In 1919, the population of Bryukhovych was 1109 people. With the help of archival photos from the Polish Electronic Library, we can walk in the footsteps of the inhabitants of the city at that time.

Archival photos of the Bryukhovychs provide a deep insight into the everyday life of its residents. The images show people going about their daily business, from farmers tending their crops to restaurant owners waiting for diners.

The architectural beauty of the Bryukhovychs did not escape the author of the archival photos. The city was known for its stunning buildings, many of which were created in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The photographs show the intricate facades, exquisite windows and charming details that adorned these structures. Some of these buildings have been carefully preserved, while others have changed or disappeared forever.

In 1921, a club with a reading room and a beautiful park for fun and recreation were opened here. During the following years, a church was built. In the interwar period, there were many villas in the city that belonged to wealthy Lviv entrepreneurs, lawyers, and artists.

Time, natural elements and negligence - all this became the reason for the final destruction of what was once a part of people's lives, a part of history.

Viewing these archival photos is an amazing journey through time. They allow you to connect with the past, appreciate the rich history of the Bryukhovychs and gain a deeper understanding of their culture.
