Flora Print: Where Did It Come From in the Gucci Fashion House?

Flora Print: Where Did It Come From in the Gucci Fashion House?
Fashion often finds inspiration in unexpected places, and the story of the Flora print from Gucci is a prime example of this.

It all started in 1966, when Grace Kelly and her husband visited a Gucci boutique in Milan to buy the legendary Bamboo Bag. She was asked to choose a gift for herself, to which she replied that she wanted a silk scarf. But among the available offers there was nothing that caught the princess's eye.
Then Rodolfo Gucci, the then head of the fashion house, asked the artist Vittorio Accornero to create a unique print for Grace Kelly. Accornero, known for his talent as an illustrator, embodied on canvas delicate wildflowers with branched greenery, fluttering butterflies and dragonflies in one night. The print immediately became another international bestseller, which contributed to the popularity of the Gucci brand.

This airy and romantic design quickly won the hearts of fashion critics and style lovers, becoming a symbol of elegance and femininity. Comprising 43 different elements, the Flora print has become an integral part of the Gucci identity.
Since then, Flora has been repeatedly reinterpreted and reproduced in Gucci collections, and its influence has spread to other fashion brands. The print, which began as a gift for Grace Kelly, has become a symbol of Italian fashion and a long-awaited decoration for everything - dresses, skirts, blouses, bags, umbrellas, shoes and more.

And no matter how "granny" it is considered by today's youth, it invariably remains in the zone of interest "haute couture".
This is a scarf with a delicate floral motif on a white background, which is now presented in new prints with brighter colors than the original, often with the brand logo covering each petal.

But the meaning of this thing and its graphic power remain legendary, despite the always successful transformations for more than 50 years.
