Кингисепп прожил недолго, он погиб тридцати четырех лет, в самом расцвете сил. В повестях Е. Воеводина "Совсем недавно" и "Звезды остаются" (написанных совместно с Э. Талунтисом) действуют чекисты; герои повестей "Идемте встречать весну", "Научи меня жить", "Наш друг Олег" - рабочие; жизнь и заботы летчиков и пограничников нашли свое отражение в книгах "Остров доброй надежды" и "Такая жаркая весна".
