The book publishes the works of the philosophizing Metropolitan Nicephorus, a major thinker of the XII century, who represented the theological and rationalistic direction of ancient Russian thought. The texts of the "Epistle on Lent" and "Epistles on Latin", which were addressed to Vladimir Monomakh, are published according to the Russian lists of the XVI century, with translation into modern Russian and with detailed comments on the ideological and philosophical content of the monuments. The research part of the publication shows the role of Nicephorus in the translation of the ideas of ancient philosophy to Russia.
