Moebius Julius Christian
a Prussian subject, a native of Schwarzburg; photographer

Julius Moebius, treasurer of the Gymnasts Society, located on Bolshaya Lubyanka in the house of the Ivanovsky Monastery, worked as a photographer for his brother Friedrich Moebius. On August 27, 1880, Julius Moebius became the owner of the old establishment: "I wish to continue the photographic establishment of my brother Friedrich Moebius, consisting of the Myasnitskaya part of the 2nd quarter, in the house of Mosolov," he wrote to Governor-General V.A. Dolgorukov in a petition.
Julius Moebius was a participant in the All-Russian Photographic Exhibition of 1882 in Moscow, where he was awarded a bronze medal.
V.I. Sreznevsky in his review article "Photography at the All-Russian Exhibition of 1882 in Moscow" did not give a high assessment of the photographer's work: "The Moscow photographer Moebius (Lubyanka, Mosolov's house) exhibited ten large, heavily retouched portraits. What should be attributed to the strokes sideways throughout the image - retouching or (really!) clumsy covering with collodion?"
In 1888, Julius Moebius carried out a large public preparatory work on the organization of the anniversary All-Russian Photographic Exhibition in Moscow and was a member of the expert commission of the exhibition, which was to open in the halls of the Imperial Historical Museum in early January 1889.
At the end of 1892, the establishment was sold to the Austrian citizen Adolf Filippovich Richter on the condition that the name of the company "J. Moebius" was preserved.
