Roll-Primar Camera

The Benzin company was founded by Kurt Benzin in 1889 in Gorlice, Germany. As early as 1899, Kurt Benzin collaborated with Carl Zeiss with the help of Dr. Paul Rudolph. In 1902, Benzin helped Carl Zeiss Jena establish a camera manufacturing process (Palmos Camerabau). Thanks to its close relationship with Zeiss Bentzin, a high-quality, premium company that proudly uses Zeiss optics. In 1928, Kurt Benzin transferred the company to his son Ludwig, daughter Helen and her husband. Kurt Benzin died in 1932, but the company continued to lead his children. In 1945, after World War II, Bentzin was renamed Gorlitz Kamerawerke VEB, and in 1948 Primar-Kamerawerk Gorlitz VEB. In 1951, it was merged with VEB Feinoptisches Werk, which had previously been Meyer Gorlitz. The company was then acquired by Kombinat VEB Pentacon Dresden in 1968. All original Bentzin cameras were discontinued in 1954

The name of the camera must be indicated correctly, otherwise the Germans will not be able to understand what kind of device it is, and the numbers with it are not at all the same. Bentzin, Surt Görlitz is a manufacturer, but there have never been cameras with the names Bentzin-primar and simply Primar.

The camera was produced with different shutters Ibsor, Pronto Compur, Deckel Compur and lenses Meyer-Gorlitz Triopan f4.5, Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f4.5, around the 1930s. I won't offend you with a number)) ,see for yourself later.

I gave the wrong name, please excuse me! )) Yours and that this one in the photo is called Spring-Primar. In general, the word "Primar" rather means a series, and the first word is something like a name in this series. And the Roll-Primar is different in appearance and twice as expensive, also produced from about 1930.

Put the fix aside! The first name is true to Roll-Primar, and the Spring-Primar camera is shown below in the photo and, despite a more interesting look, costs half as much. On the design of our camera, the name itself is not written, which is often found in many manufacturers, so in such cases there are difficulties when searching.
