Goryainov is a graduate of the Kharkiv Sports School, he began his professional football career at Olimpik from Kharkov. Then in 1993 he moved to Metalist, from 1995 to 1997 he spent in CSKA Kyiv, and in 2003 he ended up in Kryvbas, where he spent two years and returned to his native Metalist.
He was involved in games for the youth national team of Ukraine on September 3, 1996 against the youth national team of Georgia. He was called up to the national team of Ukraine, which made his debut at the "native" stadium of OSC Metalist on May 25, 2010 in a friendly match against the Lithuanian national team. At the age of thirty-four, he became the oldest debutant in the history of the Ukrainian national team.
