Abstract:
The work is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the collection of ceramic toys of the XI-XIX centuries, discovered during archaeological research of the city of Kyiv. From the total array of ceramic plastics, children's toys are singled out in their essence and functional purpose. A chronology and typology of toys have been developed, a general description of the technology of manufacturing products has been made. It is established that, having passed the stages of the totem and deity, in the course of the economic and cultural development of society, the sacral side gave way to the utilitarian, as a result, the formation of children's toys in the modern sense took place.
