The 2020 coin collection set is dedicated to the central office of the National Bank of Ukraine – an architectural gem of the city of Kyiv, designed by architects Oleksandr Kobelev and Oleksandr Verbytskyi in 1902–1905. The National Bank of Ukraine is an open, independent, modern institution, a special central government body whose main task is to ensure price and financial stability in order to promote sustainable economic development of Ukraine. It has the exclusive right to issue the national currency – the hryvnia. The set includes small coins of Ukraine in denominations of 10, 50 kopiikas, circulating coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 hryvnias and a commemorative medal "National Bank of Ukraine. 115 years of construction". Coins in denominations of 10 and 50 kopiikas are made of low-carbon steel with a brass coating, coins in denominations of 1 and 2 hryvnias are made of low-carbon steel with nickel plating, coins in denominations of 5 and 10 hryvnias are made of zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating, and a commemorative medal is made of nickel silver. On the surface of small and circulating coins, in the process of their use in circulation and storage in a set, signs of oxidation may appear in the form of darkening of the surface of coins.
Obverse of the commemorative medal bears: above – the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine, under which there is the inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ / БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); a stylized image of a fragment of the premises of the Operating Hall of the National Bank of Ukraine; the inscription 2020 (center) and the logo of the Banknote Printing and Minting Works of the National Bank of Ukraine (below).
The reverse of the commemorative medal depicts a fragment of a colored stained-glass window (pad printing is used), which is located in the main building of the National Bank of Ukraine, and the inscriptions around the circumference: 115 YEARS OF THE BUILDING OF THE NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE.
