The spelling of the original is partially preserved: the royal persons in italics, capitalized throughout the name and throughout the title, are preserved;
explanations of the original are given in parentheses ( )
Archimandrite Simeon's explanations, taken from the footnotes at the bottom of the page, are given in the main text in parentheses ( ), but in a smaller font than the main one;
explanations of the compiler V. G. are given in square brackets { } in a font smaller than the main one.
The biography is divided into chapters by the compiler V. G. and one chapter of the sayings "On God and the World" is added, compiled from the speeches of Father Gabriel from his letters.
All dates are given, as in the original, according to the old style.

Правописание подлинника отчасти сохранено: сохранены выделенные курсивом, прописные во всём имени царские особы и во всём титуле;
в круглых скобках ( ) даны пояснения подлинника;
пояснения архимандрита Симеона, взятые из сносок внизу страницы, даны в основном тексте в круглых скобках ( ), но шрифтом мельче основного;
пояснения составителя В. Г. даны в квадратных скобках { } шрифтом мельче основного.
Жизнеописание разделено на главы составителем В. Г. и добавлена одна глава изречений "О Боге и мире", составленная из речей отца Гавриила из его писем.
Все даты даны, как в подлиннике, по старому стилю.
