Josef Brunner (born 14 March 1826 in Vienna; † 12 August 1893 in Hinterbrühl) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist.
Born into the family of court painter Leopold Brunner, Brunner studied at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1845 and specialized in landscape painting, followed by study trips. From 1861 he was a member of the Künstlerhaus. His main patron during this period was Archduke Ferdinand Max, later Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico.
