Description:
Art de la table.
Sugar shaker for powdered sugar. When sugar appeared on the European market at the end of the XVIII century, it was very expensive, was a curiosity, quickly became fashionable among wealthy people who began to use it not only in desserts or tea parties, but in general for any reason - powdered sugar was sprinkled on a variety of dishes, including meat.
Then similar sugar bowls came into fashion, the openwork part of which was covered with a complex through perforation pattern.
Nowadays, when we use powdered sugar much less often than the aristocrats of the early twentieth century, such sugar bowls can be filled with any crushed spices.
The maximum height together with the upper removable cap is 16 cm. The diameter in the widest part is 6 cm. Weighs 130.7 grams.
Judging by the style and font used in the engraving (monogram RL), the object was made at the beginning of the twentieth century, the characteristic details and lines of the art nouveau style.
In addition to the assay mark, there is a nominal stamp of the jeweler, but I did not find such a stamp (with a complex pattern inside the diamond-shaped shield) in reference books.
Art de la table.
