He was one of the leading representatives of the world avant-garde. He entered the history of Ukrainian art as one of the founders of national cubo-futurism.
In 1918 he participated in the production of sketches of Ukrainian banknotes.

Almost immediately after his death, his name and creative work were deleted from the history of the Soviet era. It was only in the mid-1960s during the "thaw" that his name and work were rediscovered.
