Participant of republican and all-Union competitions and exhibitions since the age of 14. He has four solo exhibitions. The works of M.D. Shtompel are in the collections of individuals and collectors in Ukraine and Germany.
Dozens of his students became winners of regional and All-Ukrainian competitions, festivals, graduated and are now studying in secondary and higher art schools.
