In the Trypillian culture, the signs of the snake symbolized the good serpent, the guardian of household goods. Obverse of the coin depicts: above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, the inscription УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), the coin issue year 2017 and the face value 5/HRYVNIA; in the center there is a gilded (decoration element: local gilding, gold content in purity not less than 0.0003 g) ring in the form of a snake (II - III centuries AD), from the ancient city of Tyra (now - Belgorod-Dnestrovsky), on the right there is a serpentine (XII century) - a neck double-sided medallion (a very popular kind of amulet in Russia with images of a Christian plot on one side and the head of Medusa Gorgon with snakes on the other). The reverse of the coin depicts a snake against the background of a décor made of Trypillian ceramics in the form of snakes. At the bottom, against the background of the picture, there is a vertical inscription SNAKE.

Безцінні пам`ятки культури давніх епох розповідають, як люди вчилися працювати з природніми матеріалами, надавали їм силу за допомогою символів - зображень птахів, звірів, людей, орнаментів тощо. В орнаментиці трипільської кераміки важливе місце посідає образ змії. У Трипільській культурі знаки змії символізували доброго змія, охоронця хатнього добра. На аверсі монети розміщено: угорі малий Державний Герб України, напис УКРАЇНА, рік карбування монети 2017 та номінал 5/ГРИВЕНЬ; у центрі - позолочений (елемент оздоблення: локальна позолота, вміст золота в чистоті не менше ніж 0,0003 г) перстень у вигляді змії (ІІ - ІІІ ст. н. е.), із античного міста Тіра (зараз - Білгород-Дністровський), праворуч зображено змійовик (ХІІ ст.) - нашийний двосторонній медальйон (дуже популярний на Русі різновид оберега із зображеннями християнського сюжету з одного боку та голови Медузи Горгони зі зміями - з іншого). На реверсі монети зображено змію на тлі декору із трипільської кераміки у вигляді змій. Унизу на тлі малюнка розміщено вертикальний напис ЗМІЯ.
