KOHUT Zoya Mykolayivna (21.05.1925, Sumy – 30.04.1997, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) – writer, journalist, public figure. Member of the SPU (1996). Due to the repression of her father, lawyer M. Nikonenko, the family lived in Siberia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan from 1931 to 1937. In 1943 she left for the West. She worked at the faculty in Grünberg, from 1946 she was a teacher. on Philos. Faculty of the Albert-Ludwig University (Freiburg, both in Germany). In 1949 she moved to Melbourne, where she worked as a Ukrainian announcer. radio, hosted by the author. Program. Secr. Lit.-Art Club. V. Symonenko (since 1954), member. Merge. Ukr. writers in exile "Slovo". Selections of her poems were included in the almanacs "New Horizon" (Melbourne), "Word", "Northern Lights" (both - Edmonton), "Fox Nikita". Author of coll. poetry and prose "Cultural Arabesques" (Melbourne, 1969; P., 1992), "Curly Smoke" (New York, 1974). She corresponded with Josyf Slipyj, at whose invitation she visited Rome three times. Catholic. University.
