This dictionary is the first Great Korean-Russian dictionary, which was created by linguists from two countries - the Institute of Linguistics of the General Academy of Sciences of the DPRK and the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The dictionary contains about 150,000 words and includes the vocabulary of modern and classical fiction, historical texts, written monuments, as well as everyday vocabulary, socio-political and basic scientific and technical terminology. The dictionary also includes colloquial words and dialectisms.
The dictionary contains a wide range of fixed word combinations, figurative expressions, idioms, proverbs and sayings. It also contains word-formation and inflectional grammatical morphemes.
The dictionary is intended for Soviet and Korean translators, as well as for researchers studying the language, history, economics, literature and culture of Korea, for teachers, graduate students and students of oriental universities. It can help Koreans learn Russian. The dictionary can also be used by specialists from other countries who know Russian and read Korean literature.

В словарь включены также просторечные слова и диалектизмы.
В словаре широко представлены устойчивые словосочетания, образные выражения, идиомы, пословицы и поговорки. В нём зафиксированы также словообразовательные и словоизменительные грамматические морфемы.
