The course covers only a part of the issues of sound theory and serves as an introduction to the more difficult sections of acoustics. The presentation of the material is carried out in sufficient detail so that readers can clearly imagine the physical essence of the methods used, the ways of mathematical solution and analysis of individual problems, and the ways of applying general theory to particular problems. The first part is devoted to the derivation of the wave equation of acoustics, the study of the propagation of plane waves, the question of the passage of plane waves through the boundaries of media, and the study of the simplest types of emitters. Further, the issues of sound propagation in pipes and sound pipelines are considered in detail. Finally, the last chapters deal with the theory of complex emitters of various types (spherical, cylindrical, piston) and some problems of wave scattering on a sphere and a cylinder.

Курс охватывает лишь некоторую часть вопросов теории звука и служит введением к более трудным разделам акустики. Изложение материала проводится достаточно подробно, чтобы читатели могли ясно представить себе физическую сущность применяемых методов, способы математического решения и анализа отдельных вопросов и способы приложения общей теории к частным задачам. Первая часть посвящена выводу волнового уравнения акустики, исследованию вопроса распространения плоских волн, вопросу прохождения плоских волн через границы сред и исследованию простейших типов излучателей. Далее подробно рассмотрены вопросы распространения звука в трубах и звукопроводах. Наконец в последних главах разбирается теория сложных излучателей различных типов (сферического, цилиндрического, поршневого) и некоторые вопросы рассеяния волн на сфере и цилиндре.
