On November 27, 2024, the Andriy Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv will host the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the history of Ukrainian ceramics and the achievements of the outstanding masters who created it.
Guests of the exhibition will be able to see the works of graduates of the Department of Artistic Ceramics of the Lviv National Academy of Arts - masters of their craft, who are currently members of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva: Valentyna Bero, Ihor Bereza, Maryna Gandish, Hanna Drul, Olesia Dvorak-Halik, Natalia Zuban, Yanina Mironova, Yuriy Musatov, Lesya Padun and Volodymyr Khyzhynsky.
It is noted that the Department of Artistic Ceramics of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, since its foundation in the 1940s, was the only structural unit in Ukraine that trained highly qualified ceramic artists. Graduates of specialized educational institutions from different parts of the country studied and improved their skills here.

It is this department that is directly related to the phenomenon that later became known as "Ukrainian professional ceramics." In the 1960s, its employees organized numerous specialized exhibitions.
Lviv ceramists also authoritatively declared themselves at the international level. In particular, at symposia in Vilnius in 1971 and 1975. They prepared works for famous artistic ceramics competitions in Italy and France.
In the 1990s, the creative work of ceramists became the property of Ukrainian museums in the country - the National Museum of Folk Decorative Art of Ukraine, the Museum of Ethnography and Crafts of the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishna, etc.
The exhibition will be open until December 15, 2024.
