Loose Hair Silver Dollar: Why is it a dream coin for many collectors?
Numismatic exhibits can be not only a source of pride for collectors, but also record holders for the price. For example, the silver dollar, which is called "Loose hair", or "The Flowing Hair Silver Dollar".

In 2013, one such coin sold at public auction at Stack's Bowers Galleries for $10,016,875, the highest price ever paid at auction for a single coin. By the way, since 1920, the coin has changed 11 owners, and its price has increased from $1,250 in 1947 to more than $10 million in 2013.
The author of the design of this silver dollar was Robert Scott. The reverse of the coin is decorated with an eagle, and the obverse is decorated with Lady Liberty with flowing hair. "The Flowing Hair Silver Dollar" became the prototype of the first US silver dollar, known among numismatists under the same name. Only 1,748 coins were issued in the first year, of which about 150 have survived to this day.
The history of coins is interesting to study with the Numismatics section on Violity. After all, more than 160,000 active lots can "tell" a lot.
Minting of the first batch of such coins was entrusted to the Philadelphia Mint. And it happened on October 15, 1794, and the very next day the first silver dollar with "loose hair" was sent to the US President George Washington.
To promote these coins, the mint director decided to exchange some of them for foreign ones, and 200 were given to dignitaries and important guests as gifts.

This silver dollar holds an important place in the history of American numismatics as one of the earliest denominations of United States coins. Its diverse designs and limited editions make it an interesting area of study for collectors.
