Here's the story of the lot, as told by its seller: "When I was a kid, I used to collect my own collection. I personally exchanged it with my neighbor, who found it in gum. I've had it in my stamp album since I was probably 35 years old."
One might think that this is the most expensive single insert ever sold in the relevant section, but it is not. The record is held by another copy of the same Turbo #1.

What is known about this "golden" piece of paper?
Chewing gums with various brightly colored inserts were perhaps the main passion of junior high school students from the perestroika period to the early noughties. Along with Pepsi, blocks of foreign gum were one of the symbols of the Western lifestyle.

The supplier of the most famous brands Turbo and Love is... was the confectionery company Kent. The company is located in Turkey, has been operating since 1927 and has been producing gum since 1960.
The iconic Turbo with cars and motorcycles on the inserts appeared around 1983-1985. However, Turkish gum arrived in the soviet union later.
The first series, with numbers 1 through 50, was rarely seen at all, and is the rarest. But the second one, with numbers 51-120, was more popular and caused a real stir. Turbo was bought in small shops, at stalls, and by hand. Gum inserts were exchanged, played with, and passionately collected in albums. For many, they became the first collectible.

Thanks to these color photographs, which were of mediocre quality, children of the nineties learned about the automotive world in the absence of the Internet. For some, Turbo inserts remain desirable to this day. Thanks to Violity, it's never too late to realize their childhood dreams.

Some collectors find it strange that the very first, most coveted issue of the legendary series depicts an Opel Ascona CD. It was not a cool racing car, but an ordinary middle-class car, not distinguished by sporting achievements or innovative design. However, it sold well - perhaps this is the reason.

Société Turbo
The Ascona C is a representative of the third generation of the line, which the German company Opel produced from 1970 to 1988. The model was launched in the summer of 1981, and its modification called the Ascona CD was launched the following year. It was part of the global J-car project of the auto giant General Motors. As for the name, Ascona is a resort on the shores of the picturesque Lake Maggiore in the Swiss canton of Ticino.

Probably, the young owners of the No. 2 liner felt more joy in the nineties. It features a stylish bright yellow English TVR 390SE, which could accelerate to an incredible 300 km/h. Only about a hundred of them were produced between 1984 and 1989. It is difficult to say how many inserts with the image of the sports car exist. A couple of years ago, one of the copies was sold at Violity for 3,190 UAH.
