Microprocessor collector Bohdan Penuk is the hero of the new episode of “Listen to Violity”
The latest episode of the Violity podcast is now available on our YouTube channel. This time, Denys Minin's guest is Bohdan Penuk, an expert on the history of computer technology and a passionate collector.

Bohdan Artemovich is the co-founder and head of the technical and cryptographic protection department of the Ukrainian company EPOS. The company entered the technology market back in the 1990s, so our guest has a lot to say about those times. In particular, he talks about how the company participated in large-scale exhibitions EnterEX and Bezpeka, whose pavilions showcased the most advanced computer devices and peripherals of the time.

It was then that the idea began to emerge to tell people more about the heart and brain of a computer — the processor.
Today, Bohdan's collection includes over 1,400 different microprocessors: from the Intel4004 of 1971 to those currently used in spacecraft, at sea, in the sky, and on land.
The collection clearly demonstrates the evolution of computing machines. Each item is framed and accompanied by explanatory text. In addition, there are stands demonstrating the gradual development of controllers, hard drives, video cards, and other computer components.

All this can be seen with your own eyes: for example, our hero regularly shows his collection to students at Kyiv universities.
Bohdan and Denys talked about the importance of microprocessor development and why young people should know their history. The guest talked about rare and coveted items, military service in the air defense forces, and interesting finds at the capital's radio market.
During the conversation, the podcast host learns about “waffles” that almost no one has seen, recalls floppy disks, and delves into the pre-internet era when computers were the size of his studio.
At the end, the collector gives advice for those who want to systematically collect computer equipment. Where to start and what to avoid? Listen to the episode and find out.

The new episode of “Listen to Violity” aired on Wednesday, June 25, at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy watching!
