Returning books to the library is a matter of responsibility. And what will you say when you hear that this publication has been delayed for 104 years. Apparently, the reader or his descendants were very interested in reading.
The Minnesota resident returned the book to the St. Paul Public Library, which his father used to borrow back in 1919. This is the second volume of Nathan Haskell Dole's Great Composers, which chronicles the lives and works of some of the greatest composers from the Baroque period to the Romantic era, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and more.

As the library employee noted, this book was not on the shelves for long. It was issued several times, and the last time was in 1919.
Nathan Haskell Dole's Eminent Composers entered the St. Paul Public Library in 1914. At that time, it was located on the "Old Market", and the central library was just being built. In 1915, the "Old Market" caught fire, and almost the entire library - 160,000 volumes - burned down. Patrons managed to save about 34,000 books.

According to the library staff, this publication was probably in their hands at the time of the fire, which saved it from the fire. The hardcover book remains in fair condition, bound in its original binding, with pages marked with library stamps. Has notes made in pencil and a few ink stains.
Nathan Haskell Dole's "Eminent Composers" has now become a museum piece, serving as a reminder of the importance of timely return and care of library books.
