In 1953, the world saw the beginning of one of the most significant toy brands - Matchbox, which forever conquered the hearts of collectors and children almost all over the world. Founded by the British company Lesney Products, it has become recognized for its unsurpassed detailing.
Matchbox got its name due to the unique form of packaging - boxes that were similar to matchboxes. This solution was not only practical, but also ingenious, creating small, light and portable machines that fit easily in a pocket or bag.

The first Matchbox miniatures were duplicated by MG Midget TD, Ford Zodiac, Vauxhall Cresta and others. Over time, the range expanded rapidly, adding to the collection such well-known cars as Volkswagen, Citroën and many others. During production, detailed photographs of real cars were taken as a basis, and original drawings were also used, which ensured a high level of detail.
In the 1970s, collectors' clubs began to catalog the brand's machines, exchange replica models, and publish Matchbox magazines. Over time, collectors not only sought out miniature copies, but also related products such as promotional materials.
