"Ukrainian carols in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" is the last postal issue in 2023 from Ukrposhta

The national postal operator of Ukraine is ending 2023 with the release of a postal block - "Ukrainian carols in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra". The stamps will go on sale on Christmas Eve.

The final issue is dedicated to the anniversary of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine holding the first Christmas liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

The postal block included three postage stamps - "Assumption Cathedral. 17th century (Kyiv)", "Give happy summers to our glorious Ukraine", "Assumption Cathedral. XVIII-XX centuries (Kyiv)". This philatelic product was the result of the joint work of the talented artist Mykola Kochubey and Ukrposhta experts, who sought to embody the best features of the Ukrainian national tradition in the design. Each stamp is a separate work of art that reflects the traditions of caroling.

One of the features of this series is the choice of rich colors that add vitality and emotional richness to the brands. Each brand has its own history, a unique national flavor and is distinguished by exquisite execution. The following plot elements were chosen for the design: the Assumption Cathedral iconostasis, colorful carols with an octagonal star, and a traditional Ukrainian nativity scene.

One of the postage stamps depicts Saints Anthony and Theodosius of Pechersk, the founders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. A group of singers glorifies the birth of Christ, and Angels on their wings bring the sounds of the melody to the dome of the temple. The other two stamps depict the Assumption Cathedral building. On one is a temple, which is reproduced on the basis of an engraving of 1623. Another stamp shows a modern cathedral.

Another important feature of this collection is the desire to reflect the diversity of Ukrainian traditions and regional features.

It is also worth noting that the stamps "Ukrainian carols in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" have become not only an object of artistic performance, but also an important element of Ukrainian cultural heritage. These stamps deepen awareness of the rich cultural background of Ukraine and help to preserve and pass it on to future generations.

The price of one set is UAH 103. The circulation is 140,000 copies.
