According to researchers, the Clemente Guardia chocolate factory was located here since 1825. The factory was considered a recognized producer of the most exquisite sweets - chocolate dragee, sugar mastic and chunky chocolate.

It was one of the most famous places in Barcelona for the production of sweets. The factory has even been mentioned in the almanac of that year's World Exhibition in Barcelona, dated 1888.
On the basis of the found architectural elements and archival materials, archaeologists managed to restore the chain of construction events at this place. Originally, there was an estate here that belonged to the Barcelona Cathedral of Pia Almoina. Later, it was turned into a hotel that existed until the 16th century. In 1825, the building was restored and a chocolate factory was opened in it.
