"Unity Saves the World" - a new commemorative banknote from the NBU to mark the second anniversary of the full-scale war
On February 23, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation a commemorative 50 hryvnia banknote. This is the second note issued by the NBU since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. It is dedicated to the unity of the democratic world in the face of Russian aggression and is titled "Unity Saves the World".
"Over the past two years, we have repeatedly seen how large-scale the impact of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine is on the whole world. And there is no other way to restore global security and stability in the world, to guarantee a free future, but to work together to ensure Ukraine's victory. After all, the threat is not limited to the territory of our country. And the further we go, the more its overcoming depends on the unity of all. Our new banknote is a symbol of the world's gratitude for our involvement. We are proud of our partners and believe in the strength of their unity, which is also being strengthened," said Andriy Pyshnyi, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The banknote has an original vertical design. The design was created by Honored Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Taran.
The front side of the banknote features a stylized outline of Ukraine, which resembles a heart with blood vessels approaching it. The background image is a girl in a military helmet looking towards the West. In the lower part, against the background of the globe, you can see a stylized image of Europe, from whose countries the vessels-routes of aid to our country and hearts of support and sympathy depart. In the center, in the upper part, there is a watermark, to the right of which is a through element - a stylized chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a special relief element in the form of a circle for people with impaired vision. On the left is the inscription "Ukraine" and the image of the small State Emblem. Below the stripe, which is filled with the outline of the NBU logo, the center of the patch bears the inscription "Unity saves the world" and text blocks in Ukrainian and English:
Unity and solidarity with the Ukrainian people are bringing closer Ukraine's victory in the fight against the Russian aggressor, and are saving the world from the chaos and darkness of violence.
The back of the banknote features a stylized trident against a background of clasped hands: a symbol of cooperation, mutual assistance, trust and partnership. Above is the inscription "Unity is Strength!". The serial number is printed twice: the number horizontal in the direction of reading is printed in red, and the vertical number is printed in black.
The commemorative banknote has an EU series with numbers 0000001-0300000. It is legal tender, but its circulation is limited. It is 300 thousand pieces (in souvenir packaging). The banknotes will be sold in the NBU's online numismatic products store on March 7, 2024. It is planned to sell half of the circulation, 150 thousand pieces. The rest will gradually appear in distributing banks: Ukrgasbank, Radabank, Tascombank, and PrivatBank.
