A retired woman from the USA accidentally saw a family heirloom at an auction, which for years was considered lost

A resident of the American state of Utah recently met a family heirloom at one of the online auctions, which was considered lost for many years. It's a heart-shaped pendant made from a coin for her mother.

The decoration had a double. In 1944, two ornaments made of coins were sent by Augusto William Conti, who served in New Guinea during World War II. He gave such a gift to his wife and her daughter on Valentine's Day.

Each of the pendants was inscribed: "New Guinea, to my beloved Joan, 1944" and "New Guinea, to my beloved wife, 1944." The first was assigned to the stepdaughter, and the second to the wife.

Joan Eckle chanced upon her mother's pendant, which had been considered lost since 1963. The description of the auction lot stated that it was purchased at a flea market sale in California.

Another surprise for Joan Eccles was that her mother's pendant was bought by her daughter and given to her mother. The family heirloom has now returned home.

“This is a story about how hearts are reunited, both literally and physically. Memories come back to us, and it will remain in our family for decades and years to come," one of the daughters of the owner of the pendant told local media.
