
Washington resident Anna Lee Dozier accidentally discovered that a ceramic vase she had purchased at a thrift store was a 2,000-year-old relic of the Mayan civilization.
The small, light-colored ceramic product is decorated with paintings mostly done in red and black paints, the American woman bought it for almost $4.

While on a business trip in Mexico, Anna Lee visited the local museum of anthropology. She noticed that some of the exhibits were similar to the vase she had purchased. To dispel the doubt, the woman spoke with the museum staff, who recommended contacting the Mexican embassy for consultation.
After the information about the vase was transferred to the embassy - the dimensions, the image, which the woman supported with photographs, the object was identified as a real Mayan relic. A ceremonial urn dated 200-800 AD.

Realizing the value of her accidental find, Anna Lee decided to give the artifact to the Mexican ambassador, Estaban Moctezuma Barragan. The handover ceremony took place at the Mexican Cultural Institute. Later, the artifact will decorate the collection of one of the Mexican museums.
"I am very glad that I played a role in the history of her repatriation. I would like her to return to her rightful place and where she belongs," said Anna Lee Dozier.
