Employees of the Ossolinski National Institute in Wroclaw have made available scanned copies of several Lviv newspapers from 1776–1805.
Among the scans are the yearbooks of the following publications: "Gazette de Leopol" (1776), "Lwowskie Pismo Uwiadamiaiące" (1784), "Lwowskie Tygodniowe Wiadomości" (1786–1788), "Lemberger Wöchentliche Anzeigen" (1792–1798), "Lemberger Kaiserlich- Königliches Intelligenz-Blatt" (1799–1805).

The project to digitize Lviv old prints started back in 2007. This is part of the program "Digitization and conservation of the library collection of the National Institute named after Ossolinski in Wroclaw", initiated by several European countries. These scans are now available on the website of the Lower Silesian Digital Library.
It is noted that the first attempt to publish a newspaper in Lviv dates back to the 1770s. In 1772, the printer Anton Pillier arrived in the city, but the local authorities forbade him to print. Because he did not have the relevant permit documents.

Then Chevalier Ossudi from Pillier's printing house applied for such permission in 1776. Later, the first issue of the French-language "Gazette de Leopol" was published; publication lasted at least until the end of the year.
After Pillier's death, his wife Josefina continued the publishing business. Under her leadership, "Pismo uwiadamiajance Galicyi" began to be published in 1783, which was renamed "Lwowskie pismo uwiadamiajance" the following year.
