Bibliophile Oleksii Prots is a guest of the new episode of Listen to Violity

Bibliophile Oleksii Prots is a guest of the new episode of Listen to Violity
Today is the premiere of the next release of “Listen to Violity”. It is, without exaggeration, special, because for the first time in many years, you will not only hear, but also see a collector who has visited Denys Minin's studio. And believe me, he is a very interesting and knowledgeable interlocutor.
The first guest of the podcast in video format was a collector of Ukrainian books Oleksii Prots, aka Oleksiy00.
You've probably heard of one of the items in his collection, namely a book by Tychyna with a dedication to Olympiada Lavrentiivna Yakubova. The amazing story of the book's return to her relatives was shared with the whole country in the summer. However, it was told by Olympiia's granddaughter, Oleksandra Ambroz, and Oleksiy wished to remain incognito. Now he will tell us how it all happened.

That already famous collection of Tychyna's poetry was one of Oleksiy's first purchases on Violity. He wanted to gain experience on the platform, and he was also attracted to the lot by the presence of an autograph and a relatively affordable price.
In general, Oleksii became interested in books almost by accident, but over time, this hobby became increasingly important. The choice of topic was obvious for him, the grandson of a Ukrainian language and literature teacher.
He is most interested in the first editions of authors from the Executed Renaissance and diaspora publications.
He says that such artifacts have value in many dimensions. They are pieces of living memory and symbols of continuity, of the continuity of the Ukrainian literary process, and as a collector, he feels responsible for their preservation.

In addition, the guest told Denys about his experience of communicating with sellers on Violity, his very first purchase on the platform, and his latest acquisitions.

He also talked about the peculiarities of the design of old Ukrainian publications and what really determines their price. Is there a dark side to second-hand books and can a book change a life? The answers are in the new episode of our podcast.

Listen and watch the premiere on the Violity PRO Collecting YouTube channel on Monday, October 28 at 20:00.
