Divine protest: in the British Museum, a jacket was put on the sculpture of Demeter and an inscription was attached
Activists of the Just Stop Oil movement again held a protest at the end of October. This time they added a sculpture of the Greek goddess Demeter to their "performance".

Two activists put a pink jacket on the statue and a cardboard sign reading "Just Stop Hunger". And posted a video recording of this process on the social network.

As noted by the staff of the British Museum, the life-size marble statue dated 350-330. to n. e., was not injured. Both the place and the exhibit remain open to visitors.
"The British Museum respects the right of others to express their views and allows peaceful protest on museum grounds as long as it does not endanger the collection, staff or visitors. This incident clearly violated our rules for visitors and put the facilities at risk of damage," said a representative of the institution.

Activists are demanding that the UK government and other countries stop extracting and burning oil, gas and coal by 2030. This action is the latest in a series of protests in the country's museums. Previously, they had already worn pink vests on statues of The Beatles in Liverpool and English politician Emmeline Pankhurst.
