The 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird was put up for auction at the Mecum auction in the USA. The car of the legendary racer Richard Petty is planned to be sold for more than $500 thousand.

The sports car belonged to the serial version of the NASCAR racing car, which was created specifically for competitions. In total, only 1935 such cars were produced.
The 1970 Plymouth Superbird had an unusual design - streamlined shapes, a huge wing. The sports car was one of the first to be equipped with an aerodynamic element.

The technical side of the car put up for sale is represented by a 7.2-liter V8 with 375 forces and a 3-speed automatic. The sports car was able to accelerate to hundreds in 5.9 seconds and reach 230 km/h.
The American racer owned the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird from 1982 to 2013. In 2014, the car underwent restoration.

For Richard Petty, it was an iconic sports car, as he became the champion in 1971.
