Art collector Felix Kohricht is the hero of a new program by Kateryna Pimenova on Violity's YouTube channel

Art collector Felix Kohricht is the hero of a new program by Kateryna Pimenova on Violity's YouTube channel
This Wednesday, the Violity PRO Collecting YouTube channel will premiere the next episode of Kateryna Pimenova's program dedicated to Odesa collections.
This time the art observer managed to talk to a very famous Odessan. Kateryna visited a respected citizen of the city - journalist, writer, cultural critic and art historian Felix Kohricht.
Working in local media, he covered the life of the Odesa art scene since the late 1950s. He also actively developed it himself: he organized exhibitions and participated in the organization of festivals. In the early nineties, together with Marharyta Zharkova, he formed the funds of the newly created Tyrs Center for Contemporary Art.

He was drawn to nonconformism, and even now he warmly recalls its representatives-his friends Lev Mezhberg, Yosyp Ostrovsky, Oleh Voloshynov, and Mykhailo Chereshnya. Among the names he mentions are Oleksandr Anufriiev, Valentyn Khrushch, Valerii Basanets, and other well-known figures of the Odesa school of painting.
Actually, the art collection of Kohricht is centered on it. Felix Davydovych and his wife Tetiana Verbytska warmly welcomed the Violity crew in their home, which looks like an art gallery, and showed the gems of their collection.
How did it begin and which of the paintings would the couple take with them if they were forced to leave their home? How does an experienced art critic feel about replicated graphics and digital art? Kateryna asked about this and much more.
By the way, our hero is proud of his roots - an old Odesa family with jewelers and watchmakers. Despite the tumultuous history of the twentieth century, some of their work has even been inherited.

Felix Davydovych reflects on the future of his own collection and on the long-standing traditions of collecting as part of Odesa's urban culture.
We also talked about the present. In particular, about the conference that took place recently at the Artodessa gallery and about the course of artistic life in the southern city, which suffers from russian shelling almost every day. And, of course, about the important matter of preserving cultural heritage at all times.

The episode “Family Values. The Felix Kohricht Collection” was aired on the Violity PRO Collecting YouTube channel on Wednesday, March 12 at 17:00.
Enjoy your viewing!
