
Gustav Klimt's "Lady with a Fan" sold for £ 74 million, according to Sotheby's website.This is a new auction record for a work of art in Europe and for the artist's work.
Also, the canvas became the second most expensive among the portraits ever sold at auction.Sotheby's said Wong was bidding on behalf of a client in Hong Kong.

The painting by Gustav Klimt, sold at Sotheby's, was the last portrait of the artist, although the modeler is unknown.
"Lady with a Fan" is Klimt's last portrait. The identity of the woman depicted on it has not yet been identified. Among its previous owners are Klimt's friend and patron Erwin Böhl, the collector Rudolf Leopold. The latter sold the painting in 1994 for $12 million.

Klimt is among the masters whose works are purchased for nine-figure sums. In 2006, Ronald Lauder, businessman and son of the founder of a major cosmetics firm, bought Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I for $135 million.
In 2017, Oprah Winfrey said she sold a "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer II" to a Chinese entrepreneur for $150 million, Bloomberg reported.
