
On August 12, 1962 , Pavlo Romanovych Popovych accomplished a historic feat, becoming the first Ukrainian to travel to the depths of space. An avid aviator and military pilot, he was born in the small town of Uzyn in the Belotserkiv region on October 5, 1930.
Leonid Kadeniuk became the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine. However, the first Ukrainian in space was Pavlo Popovych , our compatriot, who made his flight into space on August 12, 1962.

This brave mission lasted 2 days, 22 hours and 57 minutes , during which Popovich conducted a number of scientific and technical, medical and biological experiments. His unique relationship with God , which he described, enriched his outlook and strength after this trip.

After completing the mission, Pavlo Popovych was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and received recognition and gratitude from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
