
Lviv, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and artistic vibrancy, recently witnessed a horrific incident that shocked its residents and art lovers. Unknown persons damaged the female sculpture "Confident". This act of vandalism serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of public art and the need to protect it.
A few days ago, on August 22, 2023, the female sculpture "Confident" was damaged in Stryi Park in Lviv Oblast. Unknown persons poured a substance similar to technical grease on her and tried to set her on fire. However, they were prevented from doing the latter in time.
Vasyl Korchovy's work "Confident", which is temporarily installed in Stryi Park as part of the Sculpture Route, which consists of eight modern sculptures from the collection of the Kaniv art association "Chervone Blacke".
The exhibition opened within the framework of the annual "Lviv Sculpture Week", caused quite lively discussions in social networks, the media and directly among park visitors.

The act of vandalism is a way to denigrate the city's residents and demonstrate the rejection of contemporary art in public space.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing, law enforcement agencies are checking video surveillance cameras in order to identify those responsible for this illegal act.
