One of the most popular lots from the "Ceramics, Porcelain, Glass" section right now is an elegant girl playing the trembita. Although the hallmark on this piece has been worn off, it is still recognizable as a product of the Romanian company Iris.

The Iris porcelain factory in Cluj, the second most populous city in Romania, was founded in 1922. It was the first factory of fine ceramic household items in the country.

The factory produced, among other things, luxury goods for the Ceausescu family, members of the Central Committee, and foreign delegates. Products with the Iris Cluj-Napoca marks were in great demand both in Romania and in the countries of the communist bloc. Vases made at the factory still decorate some rooms of the Romanian Parliament building.
At the end of the 1980s, the porcelain production employed more than 2,100 people, and the products were mostly exported.

With the fall of the communist regime, the factory went bankrupt and gradually fell into decay. The production facilities were replaced by a residential area, and only the name of the neighborhood, Iris, remained.
The figurine of a Hutsul girl with a trembita was produced at the factory around 1960-1970. The statuette is 17 centimeters high.
