Touchingly honoring the memory of valiant defenders of the country, the National Bank of Ukraine issued new commemorative coins. These numismatic novelties are another reminder of the courage and resilience shown by Ukrainian women defenders in difficult times.
The author of the design of the commemorative coin was the artist Maryna Kuts.
The obverse is decorated with a symbolic composition that demonstrates the courage and freedom-loving Ukrainian women, supported by extraordinary sincerity and care. These qualities are reflected through the image of a mother and defender defending her Motherland during the war.
The reverse also became the site of a symbolic composition — a combination of stylized waves of female hair braided into a braid and outlines of a female figure in a sheet.
Commemorative coins of "Zakhisnytsia" were issued in two denominations - silver 10 hryvnias were issued with a circulation of up to 2,500 pieces, and non-silver 5 hryvnias - up to 50,000 pieces.
The presentation of the coins took place on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine at the National Bank. It was conducted by the head of the institution Andrii Pyshnyi together with three defenders of Ukraine — Alina Slobodianyuk, Eva Tur and Lesya Lytvynova.
Commemorative coins have a long history of being used to commemorate notable events, figures and achievements. In the case of the heroic defenders of Ukraine, the decision to issue these coins is particularly significant. It not only recognizes their sacrifices, but also ensures that their legacy is preserved for future generations.
