Bubniv pottery is a fascinating component of Ukrainian folk culture. This tradition was formed in the village of Bubnivka and the neighboring Novoselivka, located on the banks of the Sob River in Ukraine, in the middle of the 19th century. These ceramics were distinguished not only by a high level of craftsmanship, but also by the original ornamental painting that decorated the pottery.

The history of Bubniv ceramics dates back more than a century. The first famous masters of this tradition were Arekhta Gonchar and his son Semyon Gonchar. In the 19th century, they made mainly utilitarian objects from clay, sometimes using water to paint patterns. Many peasants worked for landlords, and pottery was an important part of their lives.

However, the main contribution to the development of Bubniv pottery was made in the 20th century. The first scientific researchers of the ethnic culture of Podillia Ukrainians, such as K. Shirotskyi, D. Scherbakivskyi, E. Spasko and others, studied and described this tradition. Special attention was paid to ornamental painting, which became a significant part of Bubniv ceramics.
