The lot, which has already been followed by several dozen people in the "Books" section, has not only historical value but also practical significance. The "Songbook of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen" was published in 1918 to raise the morale of contemporaries. It so happened that the songs published there have been a great support in difficult times for descendants.
The collection was printed in Vienna. It was prepared and published by the efforts of the artistic department of the USF, known as the Artistic Handful.

The book is 128 pages long and contains sheet music for 83 songs, including Cossack, recruitment, rifle, historical, and even humorous songs. There are both author's and folk songs.

The collection opens with a work by Pavlo Chubynsky and Mykola Verbytsky, now known worldwide as the official anthem of Ukraine, and number 4 contains "Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow", just four years after its very first release.
It is believed that in 1914 this song was written by Ukrainian poet and theater figure Stepan Mykolaiovych Charnetskyi based on the seventeenth-century Cossack folk song "Rlylyly krukі berezhechky" (The steep banks have spilled over).

The book was compiled by Ivan Boberskyi (1873-1947), a prominent Ukrainian teacher, theorist, and practitioner of physical education. In the afterword at the end of the publication, he wrote about the volunteers: "With a song on their lips, they made their way through the mountains, crossed rivers, hurried through ravines and lowlands in the heat of the day. They went to battle to defeat arbitrariness and injustice and to gain freedom." The text ends with Bobersky's signature: "25.XI.1917. Five days after the proclamation of Ukraine as a republic."

In addition to the musical notes and the compiler's final word, the collection contains a chronology of the main battles and a list of the USS commanders, a place for notes, and in addition, the publication is richly illustrated.
