Orange deception: the secret of perfume from Les Parfums de Marcy
In 1925, the French perfume company Les Parfums de Marcy introduced the world to an amazing perfume that became a real work of art not only due to its unique aroma, but also to its original packaging. The presentation of L'Orange Variee perfume, as well as its packaging, was a real masterpiece.

The main element of the “bottle” was orange – a symbol of freshness and brightness. But instead of traditional packaging, Les Parfums de Marcy decided to surprise their customers by introducing an orange that could be divided into 8 glass “slices”. Each slice had its own label, which gave the package a special charm.

To keep this fragmentary citrus in shape, the bottles were held in place by a metal frame discretely hidden within the “citrus.” This packaging element not only gave the perfume originality, but also protected the contents from external influences.

The scent was a great addition to the unique packaging. Inspired by the freshness of orange, it included notes of chypre, amber, violet, heliotrope, rose, jasmine and a composition of May flowers. This rich and multifaceted complex has become a real breakthrough for connoisseurs of perfumery masterpieces.

Founded in 1910, Les Parfums de Marcy quickly gained recognition in the world of perfumery. Having opened her first brand store on the prestigious Champs Elysees in Paris, she became not only a manufacturer of fragrances, but also a creator of a unique style. It was this feature that attracted the attention of perfume connoisseurs to L’Orange Variee.

The strategy of using such packaging proved to be particularly successful for Les Parfums de Marcy during this period. This added an extra element of originality to each product. In the 20s and 30s of the last century, such packaging was in vogue, and Les Parfums de Marcy masterfully used this trend to emphasize its uniqueness.
