Museum of dead planes in Lviv region

Museum of dead planes in Lviv region
"Museum of Lost Planes" sounds like something cinematic. However, this place actually exists, and it is located in Ukraine, in the village of Khorosno, Lviv Region. The wreckage of airplanes that crashed in the western part of Ukraine at different times are exhibited here.
Unfortunately, there are no whole planes. Only their parts - body parts, fuselages, engines, dashboard elements. Everything that its organizers manage to find is a public organization engaged in the search.

The first plane that started everything was found in the Lviv region about five years ago. At the crash site, it was possible to find a watch with a personal number, which helped to identify the pilot and the plane.
During the five years of the existence of the public organization, and three years of the existence of the museum, it was possible to find more than 50 airplanes. More precisely, what is left of them. But only 12 planes that have been identified and more or less assembled are presented in the museum exhibition. For example, the remains of the Junkers-52 with three engines, the MIG-3, the American plane Boston A-20.

Plane crash sites are found in various ways. Usually, they are "suggested" by old maps and photographs. However, even here the information is approximate, so locals come to help. People say that sometimes they find debris even in their own cities. And when the information about the probable place of fall is confirmed, the team leaves for research.
Before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the boys went out almost every week. Much less now. And all the funds that can be collected from the activities of the museum and public organization are sent to help the Armed Forces.
