Archive photos always have a special meaning. These are silent witnesses of past times, cultural transformations. For example, photos of Halychyna stored in the National Digital Archive of Poland.
The collection of black and white photographs was created between 1914 and 1917. They reflect the life and architectural features of the colorful region. They preserve the appearance of the wooden temples of the villages of Toky and Lypovets.

They convey not only the elegant architecture of these buildings, but also the atmosphere of peace and devotion that filled the hearts of believers in those difficult times. They stood the test of time, symbolizing loyalty and revival of spirituality during the horrors of war.
At the beginning of the 20th century, there were churches that combined elements typical of Ukrainian wooden churches.

They were usually built in one stylistic solution: a cruciform plan with octagonal arms, the prototype of which were conches, along the perimeter of which a porch is arranged; a small bathhouse cuts into the flat finish of the roof of the main nave; semicircular frieze around the perimeter.
The interior decoration of these buildings also deserves attention. Arks, iconostases, altars, images, processional crosses, and confessionals were made of wood.
