A 1952 Chrysler is set to sell for $500,000 during Monterey Car Week
A 1952 Chrysler Styling Special by Ghia is scheduled to be sold during Monterey Car Week. The auction was organized by RM Sotheby's.

The expressive appearance immediately set this car apart from others at the Paris Motor Show in 1952 even during its debut. Its author is the chief designer of Chrysler, Virgil Exner, who used the shortened chassis of the New Yorke sedan as the basis. The car, which was 5436 mm long and had a wheelbase of 3023 mm, was made in a single copy.
The design, created by the joint efforts of the Italian body studio Ghia and Chrysler, was distinguished by the presence of smooth curves and a significant amount of chrome. The most attractive elements were the radiator grill, two-tone paint and the rounded shape of the roof.

The interior of the car also deserves attention. Two-tone interior with leather three-seater sofas, retractable compartment for a spare wheel with a hydraulic drive, harmonious inserts of emerald velvet.
During operation, the "native" engine was replaced with a 1955 FirePower Hemi engine.

According to the auctioneers, the uniqueness of this coupe and its excellent state of preservation will allow the final bid at the auction to exceed the mark of $500,000.
