Bookseller Ivan Hnatyshak is a guest of the new episode of “Listen to Violity”
Very soon, a new episode of the Listen to Violity podcast will premiere on YouTube. This time, Ivan Hnatyshak is the guest of Denys Minin. Together with his wife Iryna, he maintains a user profile on Violity under the nickname IvanoF. They have been running a family business for over 15 years.

You have seen his thorough and thoughtful articles in Violity Magazine many times. How to evaluate an old book, what topics collectors are most interested in, and what problems Ukrainian second-hand booksellers are facing these days-these and many other topics, as well as the bookseller's stories about interesting lots, have already attracted considerable attention from readers.

The dialog turned out to be interesting and informative. During the conversation, Ivan recalled what his first collection was like and what inspired him to collect books. He listed the most interesting books sold at Violita, and did not forget about the ones he bought. Denys asked the guest what criteria he uses to select books for his family collection, where he looks for them, how he determines their value, and what distinguishes the evaluation of books from the evaluation of other collectibles.

We talked about who and how creates demand in the Ukrainian second-hand book market. What topics are the most relevant now and what has changed since the beginning of the great war. The guest gave a forecast of what to expect in this area in the future, what trends will continue and which books will grow steadily in price.
Ivan told us which contemporary authors he and his wife are currently reading and what their family reading style is in general. What can surprise a couple of booksellers? The answer to this and other questions is in the episode.
Denys and his guest also discussed the value of primary sources, the potential of Ukrainian books on the world stage, unknown stories and forgotten names that are currently missing from the pantheon of national heroes. Together, they recalled some pages of Ukraine's history and drew analogies with contemporary events.

Don't miss the premiere of the new episode of Listen to Violity on the Violity PRO Collectibles YouTube channel this Saturday, August 24 at 16:00.
