The exhibition with the first editions of Jane Austen's works started in the house-museum of the writer
The collection of the first editions of the English writer Jane Austen became part of the exhibition in the house in Chowton, the British county of Hampshire, where she lived and wrote for 8 years.

Visitors will be able to see six books - "Sense and Sensuality", "Pride and Prejudice", "Mansfield Park", "Emma", "Northanger Abbey", "Conviction".

First editions will be displayed in a special case inspired by Jane Austen's walnut desk. They will be part of the permanent exhibition "Jane Austen and the Art of Writing".
"Our museum has never exhibited a complete set of first editions. I think it's something that helps people understand how special they are," said Jane Austen House Head of Collections, Interpretation and Engagement Sophie Reynolds.

Also in the exposition of the museum are precious jewelry of the writer - crosses with topazes, which were a gift from the sailor brother Charles in 1804. According to the researchers of Austen's work, it was they who inspired the writing that Fanny Price was presented with an amber cross in the book "Mansfield Park".
