The American Museum of Natural History is presenting to the public the skeleton of a prehistoric giant - a stegosaurus, named Apex. This fossil is considered the most complete and it cost $ 44 million at auction.
The remains of the stegosaurus were discovered in 2022 in Colorado. After extensive research, its age was estimated at 150 million years. A feature of the find was its exceptional preservation: scientists managed to restore about 80% of the dinosaur's skeleton.

“Apex opens up new horizons for us in the study of stegosaurs. We will be able to learn more about how these dinosaurs grew, how they moved and how they interacted with their environment,” said Roger Benson, curator of paleontology at the museum.
Interestingly, even the high price did not prevent the owner of the stegosaurus from transferring it to the museum for research. The dinosaur skeleton will be on display at the American Museum of Natural History for four years.

It is reported that paleontologists plan to study its bone tissue, perform a CT scan of the skull, and compare it with other stegosaur fossils that have been found.
