Supposedly, the limited time (24 hours) of the proposals was implemented to avoid the wrath of Sony Corporation's lawyers. The "Prototype 2—not for sale" dev kit was made available last week and eventually sold for around $5,500 (JPY 800,000).

A "Prototype 1" unit was purchased for 551,000 Japanese yen (about $3,810) over the weekend, and another auction was set up this morning - the raw system started at 600,000 Japanese yen (about $4,150). The seller has gained notoriety among enthusiasts for its acquisition of other rare hardware components, including PSP development kits.

These PS5 prototypes are believed to predate a dev kit that leaked ahead of the PlayStation 5's official launch, so Sony's diligent tracking system will likely render these devices unusable. However, members of the gaming community are surprised by the inaction of the corporation, given the ability of the seller to acquire and sell all kinds of PlayStation development equipment, even those that were released more than a decade ago.
